Lakes, hard woods and landscapes

Cradle of amazing ancient civilizations, such as the Purepecha Empire, which have greatly enriched Mexico, Michoacan is one of the most extensive, interesting and beautiful states which you must take the opportunity to visit. Proofs of this are its five Heritages of Humanity sites, eight Magic Tows and, of course, the natural phenomenon of the Monarch Butterflies that migrate every year from Canada to spend winter in the Michoacan territory.

Experience the unique Day of the Dead that permeates Janitzio, when Lake Patzcuaro becomes filled with the light of candles, and the streets are full of people walking towards the cemetery which is covered with offerings and flowers. The whole island becomes wrapped in a mystical, spiritual environment, filled with pre-Hispanic customs.

The Purepecha people, which are still present in this land, jealously guard their ancient traditions, such as their fun regional dances, their incredible crafts which are made all over the state, and, of course, their delicious cuisine such as the carnitas, the corundas, and milk sweets.

History can be found in each corner of the state, either in its beautiful colonial architecture found in Morelia, in its interesting archaeological sites such as Tzintzuntzan, or through its cultural, artistic and humanistic heritage left by Tata Vasco during his struggle to improve the Michoacan people.
